Nov. 5 vs. Baylor Bears in Norman

This game has been circled on the Sooner calendar since last season, when OU lost on the road to eventual Big 12 champion Baylor 27-14. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime, and it was 10-7 Baylor after three quarters. The Bears score 17 points in the final quarter to pull away, but OU thought this was a game it could have won. The venue switches to Norman this year.

The Baylor offense remain solid again this season, which isn’t really a surprise with defensive-minded head coach Dave Aranda. Blake Shapen has replaced Gerry Bohanon, last season’s starter at quarterback for the Bears. The offensive production is not quite as explosive as a year ago but still good, nevertheless.

The Sooners should be able to score against Baylor, especially at home. The bigger question is, can OU get out ahead early, stop the run, eliminate big downfield plays and force the Bears to beat themselves? I’m betting Oklahoma does enough in front of the home crowd to pull off the upset.
