Gabriel completed 29 of 42 passes (69 percent) for 403 yards and two touchdowns in the OU win and also ran for 35 yards and a touchdown. On Monday, he was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. He was one of six players from five different teams who earned Big 12 weekly honors for their performance over the weekend.

That is the most by a Big 12 team this season and the fourth most nationally.
For the season, Gabriel has competed 65 percent of his passes for 1,618 yards and 13 touchdowns in six games. He ranks 15th in the country in both passing efficiency (166.18) and passing yards per completion (14.19).
