1 — Oct. 8 vs. Texas in Dallas

I’ve been saying all along that the 2022 Red River Showdown between OU and Texas will be the most important game of the season for the Sooners. This rivalry is always an important game because these two longtime rivals always play each other tough. Nothing is left on the field, It doesn’t matter who has the best record or which team is ranked the highest when the game is played. You can throw all that out the window.

And if you for some reason you don’t think this will be a highly physical and competitive game, then you either haven’t watched or been to a Red River rivalry game or didn’t see how tough the Longhorns stood up to Alabama, the gold standard in college football this century.

Texas may really be back this time, after several seasons of self-proclaiming so. This game will be the hardest of the season for Oklahoma bar none and could well be an early preview of the Big 12 Championship game on Dec. 3

The media that cover the Big 12 picked Texas to finish fourth in the conference this season and Oklahoma second behind reigning conference champion Baylor. I picked the Longhorns to finish second behind Oklahoma.
