No. 8 tie — Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-8 overall, 2-7 in Big 12)

Texas Tech finished a game above .500 in 2021 (7-6), but just 3-6 in the Big 12. The Red Raiders will be hard-pressed to do that well again this coming season. The road schedule is what stands out the most, with games at North Carolina State, Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor.

Oregon transfer Tyler Shough is the likely Day 1 starter at quarterback. The Red Raiders return most of their running back production from last season, but they lose their top two receivers.

Getting third-down stops could plague Texas Tech again this season. A year ago, the Red Raiders allowed their opponents to cash in on third-down possessions 51 percent of the time, which ranked 126th out of 130 FBS teams.
