No. 10 — Kansas Jayhawks (1-11 overall, 0-9 Big 12)

Kansas is getting better under head coach Lance Leipold, but unfortunately they compete in a league where every other team is better than the Jayhawks. Leipold will get Kansas football back to a respectable level, but that won’t happen this year.

The Jayhawks return nine starters on offense and seven on defense. That in itself is a good news/bad news story, however. According to ESPN staff writer Bill Connelly, Kansas has the 10th most returning production in the country in 2022. The bad news, Connelly says, is that the Jayhawks are starting from such a low level.

The Jayhawks may be getting better, but record-wise they are probably going to take a step backward this season. They’ll win one nonconference game, probably the home opener against South Dakota, but I don’t see any upsets, like at Texas a year ago, as the Hawks make their rounds through the Big 12 schedule this season.
