The greatest softball slugger of all time, Jocelyn Alo, aka the G.O.A.T, was named the winner of yet another prestigious award. This time Alo was named the Big 12 Female Athlete of the Year. Jocelyn is the third Sooner in a row to win the female athlete of the year award. Joining OU gymnasts Anastasia Webb and Maggie Nichols. She’s the 15th overall Sooner to win athlete of the year in the conference. The Sooners have had a male or female athlete of the year ten times in the last 11 years. Kansas basketball player Ochai Ogbaji won Big 12 Male Athlete of the Year.

Alo and Patty Gasso’s Oklahoma softball team repeated as National Champions in 2022, and Alo led the way with an NCAA-best 34 home runs and a mind-blowing .515 batting average. The Sooners ended up being one of the greatest teams in the history of the sport this year, and Jocelyn is a significant reason why. Alo also recently won an ESPY as the best Collegiate Female Athlete of the year.

The Home Run Queen has dominated the sport of softball in a way few have ever done; the Sooner great will be missed in Norman as she begins her career as a professional. She has signed with the Vipers of the WPF league. The All-Time home run leader ends her collegiate career with 122, 26 more than former Sooner legend Lauren Chamberlain who had the record of 96 before this season.
