Freshman pitcher Cade Horton

Horton is the Oklahoma Sooner expected to go highest in this year’s MLB Draft after his remarkable postseason performances.  No one boosted his draft stock more than Cade Horton did during Oklahoma’s championship run in the College World Series. By the way, the redshirt freshmen figured out his strikeout pitch, the slider, halfway through the season.

The Norman, Oklahoma, native missed all of 2021 with Tommy John injury, but this year was one to remember for Horton. In the postseason, Horton posted a 3-0 record with a 2.59 ERA, along with 49 strikeouts and only six walks. Horton was responsible for the win vs Texas in the Big 12 Championship game, Game 3 vs. Virginia Tech in the Super Regionals, and against Notre Dame in the MCWS.

According to Bleacher Reports latest mock draft, Horton is projected as the No. 20 pick to the Atlanta Braves.

Projected: First Round
