Oklahoma football head coach Brent Venables knew what he was saying when he said July would be a busy recruiting month for the Sooners.

On Saturday, Oklahoma landed its fourth commitment of the week and second offensive line prospect withing 24 hours. Logan Howland, out of Princeton, New Jersey, chose Oklahoma over the likes of Iowa, Michigan, Miami (Florida), Penn State and Michigan State.

Howland, rated as three stars, according to the 247Sports Player Composite, is the third offensive line commitment for Sooner offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, who reeled in four-star O-line prospect Cayden Green on Friday. Howland and Green join Heath Ozaeta as Sooner 2023 offensive line commitments.

Bedenbaugh has truly gone nationwide in securing the Sooners’ offensive line commitments for the 2023 cycle. Howland is from New Jersey, Green from Kansas City, Missouri and Ozaeta from Washington state.

Howland, who is listed at 6 feet, 7 inches and 280 pounds, is the 10th ranked player in the state of New Jersey in the 2023 class. He is the 13th commitment in Oklahoma’s 2023 class and the sixth player to commit to the Sooners since June 27.

Despite Howland’s three-star rating, Bedenbaugh believes he may have found a diamond in the rough, bolstered by the high interest seen in this offensive line prospect by several hiigh-profile Big Ten football programs.

OU’s 2023 class ranking has been steadily moving upward in the first 10 days in July. On June 27, the Sooners had eight commitments in its 2023 class, which ranked 41st in the 247Sports class rankings. As of July 10, OU now sits at No. 13.
