Head Coach: Bud Wilkinson

The 1955 Oklahoma Sooners outscored their opponents by a score of 385 to 60 in the process of going undefeated. This year was a part of the Sooners’ historic 47-game winning streak and one of Bud Wilkinson’s many masterpieces. Tommy McDonald, Jerry Tubbs, Jimmy HarrisBo Bolinger and Cecil Morris among others were the leaders of the ’55 squad.

OU’s most impressive wins that season came against 12th-ranked Pittsburgh, who they defeated 26-14, and 14th-ranked Colorado, who the Sooners knocked off by a score of 56-21. Oklahoma earned a berth in the Orange Bowl against Maryland and, after trailing 6-0 at halftime, the Sooners roared back to win 20-6 and be crowned national champions, the second time under Wilkinson..
