Whistle Sports did an incredible feature about Oklahoma star Jocelyn Alo in its “No Days Off” broadcast series, in which it features athletes, provides personal insights about them and what make them tick.

Alo is now the two-time USA National Player of the year and has long since been dubbed “The Home Run Queen” and rightfully so, having shattered the previous NCAA record for career home runs. Former Oklahoma pitcher and current staff member Shannon Saile was a part of the interview, as well, relating things about her friend and former teammate.

"“She is extremely dedicated, confident in the work she puts in…We all knew it was gonna happen [Alo breaking the career home run record], I think it happening in Hawaii was special. Her whole family got to be there. I was in the bullpen, I came running down and gave her a big hug. I think everyone is just going to remember that memory forever.”-Shannon Saile"

It was a hard one to forget. The entire state of Oklahoma and the stranglers around the world from Sooner nation stayed up late in anticipation for Alo’s shot heard around the softball world. The amount of times she was walked at the Mary Nutter Classic was crazy, and the record-breaker remained undone after the home victory over Minnesota. But destiny chose that a game on a night a few hundred yards from where Jocelyn grew up would be the moment. And the moment was glorious:

Alo in her interview spoke about several different aspects of playing softball: how she feels she can do everything from run to play defense and of course hit. Detailing the hard work that was put in from as young as four years of age, hitting and putting in the work with her dad. Jocelyn spoke about playing baseball in a boys league and hitting two home runs against them in one game on a field that had yet to yield a home run. She also spoke about pressure, confidence and preparation and how she felt breaking the home run record:

"“It felt pretty good to break the home run record. I knew I was going to do it, but I haven’t quite put in to words how I feel yet….There is pressure for sure but our coach always says that pressure is a privilege. I personally manage pressure by staying within myself and not making the moment too big… I think what sets me apart as a hitter is just the reps.”-Joceyln Alo"

Alo also details what it meant for her to play for Patty Gasso, saying she helped her grow as not only a player but as woman. She goes into detail about her game film watching, and preparation. Alo has intense attention to detail like most of the all-time great athletes do.

Saile shares an interesting story from when they were roommates at the WCWS last season and details how Alo was confident they would win even after losing the game 1 to JMU.
