Oklahoma football: ‘Hollywood’ and Heisman reunited in NFL with Arizona
By Chip Rouse
While Oklahoma football fans will have to wait at least one more day for any NFL Draft news involving former Sooners, there was OU football news on the opening day of the 2022 draft.
Former Sooner teammates Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Kyler Murray are being reunited as a result of an NFL trade that sent Brown from the Baltimore Ravens to the Arizona Cardinals.
Brown, who earned the nickname “Hollywood” while playing at Oklahoma because of his explosive speed and deep, home-run-threat receiving ability as well as in reference to his hometown in Florida, was traded to Arizona along with Baltimore’s third-round pick in exchange for Arizona’s first-round pick (No. 25 overall) and a third-round selection (No. 100 overall) in this year’s NFL Draft.
The Ravens used the 25th pick they acquired from the Cardinals in the first round on Thursday to select Tyler Linderbaum, a center from Iowa.
So, Hollywood Brown is on the move after three strong seasons in Baltimore. Ironically, Brown was the 25th overall pick by the Ravens in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He caught 195 passes in Baltimore for a total of 2,361 yards and 21 touchdowns.

It had been reported that Brown was unhappy with his situation in Baltimore and had requested a trade. On Wednesday, in the middle of the first round of the 2022 draft, the Ravens honored that request.
The dynamic passing and receiving duo of Brown and Murray played together for two seasons at Oklahoma (2017 and 2018), but the 2018 season was by far the more productive of their two seasons together. Murray was the backup for Baker Mayfield in 2017 but became the starter the following season and went on the follow his OU predecessor by winning the Heisman Trophy, giving the Sooners back-to-back Heisman winners at the quarterback position.
Brown caught 75 passes for 1,318 yards, an average of 17.6 yards per catch, and 10 touchdowns. Most all of those passes were thrown by Murray. Brown totaled 132 catches and 2,413 receiving yards at Oklahoma, which places him seventh on the career list for Sooner receivers.
The same year (2019) that Brown was drafted in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens, Murray was the No. 1 overall pick in that year’s draft, selected by Arizona.
Now the two will not only get to reminisce old times together but partner up in terrorizing defensive backs with explosive, downfield pass connections as teammates at Arizona.
