Delarrin Turner-Yell, SS

Tim’s Projection: 6th round pick

5 feet, 11 inches, 200 pounds

Delarrin Turner-Yell is a bit of a thumper, who is seen as a guy who can develop into an excellent run defender. He is a solid coverage guy who has tape that shows him being capable of working in different schemes. His 4.47 40 time at the combine is certainly a plus for him.

Turner-Yell has been seen earlier in this process as a guy who could go as high as the 3rd round. Unfortunately, he dealt with injuries this year, then had a couple of bad games, particularly when covering Iowa State TE Charlie Kolar. There is raw talent there, and while it would not be crazy to see him fall out of the draft and go undrafted, he has the physical traits to at worst be a special teams contributor and package player in the NFL.

Sixth round for this young man is a cheap lottery ticket for a guy who can do much more. Possibly fit into a similar role as Keanu Neal did for the Dallas Cowboys as a hybrid linebacker.

Turner-Yell shows his ability to close in for a solo tackle here on a key 3rd-down play:
