Brian Asamoah, ILB
Tim’s Projection: 2nd round pick
6 feet, 1 inch, 228 pounds
Asamoah’s skills are very apparent on the Oklahoma tape. The guy is simply a tackling machine, and an excellent tackler in the open field. He also shows great coverage skills. He is the perfect fit for a “Will” linebacker in the current NFL from a skillset standpoint. He can move sideline to sideline quickly.
He recognizes well, but at times can bite on play-action, and takes some bad angles at times. Still, he was a solo tackle monster for the Sooners, and a lot of NFL scouts are salivating at the possibility of adding this twitchy athlete to their defense. There is some talk of moving him to safety, because he is somewhat undersized as a linebacker. He had an impressive 4.56 40-yard display at the NFL combine.
