A pair of Oklahoma softball players shared Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the sixth week of the college softball season.

Fifth-year catcher Lynnsie Elam is the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week and teammate Jordy Bahl is Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Elam shared Player of the Week honors with McKenzie Parker of Texas. In addition to Bahl, Oklahoma State’s Miranda Elish was Co-Pitcher of the Week in the Big 12.

Elam, a senior captain of this year’s top-ranked Sooner squad had a career performance in Oklahoma’s five-game sweep over the weekend in the Hall of Fame Classic in Oklahoma City. She finished the weekend with five hits in nine plate appearances, including four home runs and 12 runs batted in.

Three of Elam’s long balls came in a single game, a 20-0 blowout over Iowa. Two of the three were in her first two at bats in the game. She drove in eight runs with her hat trick of home runs.

Bahl was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class when she committed to Patty Gasso and the Sooners. The freshman right-handed pitcher earned two more wins over the weekend, giving her 10 for the season without a loss. One of her two weekend wins was a no-hitter, her second of the season, She pitched a five-inning complete game in the 20-0 victory over Iowa, striking out eight with two walks.

In three appearances and 11.0 innings pitched over the weekend, Bahl allowed just one run on three hits and recorded 18 total strikeouts.

For Elam, this is the second Big 12 weekly honor in her career and first since February 2020. This is the third weekly honor for Bahl in her first collegiate season.

This is the fifth time in six weeks that an Oklahoma player has been named Player of the Week in the conference this season and the fourth time a Sooner pitcher has been so honored.
