Oklahoma vs TCU Prediction
The Sooners have revenge on the mind after losing to TCU 59-58 two weeks ago. They’ve had a brutal schedule the last couple weeks with losses to some of the best teams in the country in Kansas, Baylor, and Auburn. Just 2-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last six, they desperately need a win to bolster their NCAA Tournament resume.
Oklahoma is a well-balanced team with the 13th-highest effective field goal percentage in the country and 22nd-best adjusted defensive efficiency. Their biggest problem has been turnovers, as they rank a woeful 343rd in offensive turnover rate. They turned the ball over 20 times in the first matchup against TCU and will need to protect the ball to come out victorious.
For their part, TCU has been playing great lately. They’re 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games and are 5-0 ATS on the road this season. Defense is their calling card as they have the 18th-best adjusted defensive efficiency behind the 26th-best 2-point defense and 20th-lowest defensive free throw rate.
While not a great shooting team, they have the 3rd-highest offensive rebounding rate nationally and give their offense plenty of second-chance opportunities. The Horned Frogs are coming off a huge win against LSU so they could be due for a let-down spot, but I think they’ll stay focused as they try to build their own case for the NCAA Tournament.
Six points is just too many against a TCU squad that has been great in these spots all season. The Sooners are shooting just 29% from outside the arc in conference play and given their propensity to turn the ball over, I can’t trust their offense to cover such a large spread.
I’ll take TCU +6 (-110) and dabble on the moneyline at +200 as the Horned Frogs look to move to 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as underdogs.
Even though +6 and +200 are great numbers, the best odds are +2000. Win or lose! Don’t forget to claim your offer now. Bet $10, Win $200 by signing up for WynnBET now!
