Bell to Saunders in 2013

In a season that consisted of a quarterback-by-committee, there were many doubts heading into the regular-season finale and Bedlam. Trevor Knight started at quarterback for the Sooners, then got banged up late in the second quarter. Kendall Thompson replaced Knight but threw an interception to start the third quarter. Thompson stayed in the game till the fourth, until Bob Stoops leaned to Blake Bell for the remainder of the game.

“The Belldozer” was best known for his bruising short-yardage runs but showed a different side of him in the 2013 Bedlam game in Stillwater. With 1:30 left in the fourth, Bell led the Sooners on an eight-play 66-yard drive, capped off with a seven-yard TD to Jalen Saunders with only 19 seconds left. Eighteenth-ranked Oklahoma upset sixth-ranked Oklahoma State 33-24.
