Oklahoma football: Four telltale takeaways from OU’s loss to Baylor
By Connor Pasby
Sooners running game held in check
If there’s one perspective that’s been on and off every other week, it’s Oklahoma’s ability to run the football. The Sooners running game was nonexistent Saturday.
Baylor held the Sooners to a meager 78 yards on the ground, which was the third time Oklahoma has been held under 100 yards rushing this season. Kennedy Brooks, who has been sensational this year, finished the game with 13 carries for 51 yards. Oklahoma had 2.8 yards per rush, which is the second-lowest for the Sooners this season. Moreover, Baylor contained Caleb Williams, who is known for making plays with his feet. Williams had 17 rushing yards in the game.
West Virginia, Texas Tech, and Kansas were able to shut down the Oklahoma running game Now a well-coached Baylor defense stopped it. It’s not a great sign for an Oklahoma offense who has to face Iowa State, ranked 18th nationally in rushing defense, and an Oklahoma State defense that has been superb each week and tops the Big 12 in every defensive category.
