In addition to the 139th straight sellout at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday were a number of Oklahoma football recruits, and one of those recruits in attendance committed to the Sooners on Monday.

2022 WR Nicholas Anderson, who had been committed to the Oregon Ducks since July, on Monday flipped that commitment to the Sooners.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, 195-pound WR from Katy, Texas, already had ties to Oklahoma football. He is the younger brother of Rodney Anderson, who was a running back at OU from 2015 to 2018 and rushed for a career-high 1,161 yards in 2017, including 203 yards and two touchdown in the Sooners’ 2017 College Football Playoff loss to Georgia.

Anderson, a four-star recruit, is the 17th commitment to the Sooners’ 2022 recruiting class, but the only wide receiver. He is the No. 38 wide receiver in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports Player Composite.

The recruiting book on Anderson is that he is long, lanky, has track speed and is a good route runner.

Oklahoma originally had three wide receivers committed to the 2022 class, but five-star Luther Burden decommitted and ended up committing to Missouri, and a pair of four-star wide receivers, Talyn Shettron and Jordan Hudson also elected to back out of their OU commitment. Shettron later committed to Oklahoma State and Hudson flipped to SMU.

Three Sooners’ top-ranked 2023 recruiting class, however, has two five-star wide-receiver commits Brandon Inniss and DeAndre Moore Jr., along with five-star QB Malachi Nelson, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2023 national class.

Oklahoma’s 2022 recruiting class currently ranks seventh in the 247Sports team rankings and eighth according to Rivals.
