Special teams

Oklahoma special teams have been excellent this season. Gabe Brkic is 15 of 17 in field-goal tries in 2021, including four of five of 50 yards or longer. He also is a perfect 23 of 23 in points after touchdowns.

Michael Turk, who transferred to OU from Arizona State, leads the Big 12 with an average of 49.6 yards per kick and six placed inside the 20-yard line. Turk has only had to punt 11 times so far this season, though.

The Oklahoma kickoff and punt return coverage also has been good this season. Other than the 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Kansas State’s Malik Knowles, the Sooners have been solid in kickoff coverage. This has been aided greatly by Brkic’s 24 touchbacks in 42 kickoffs. Grade A-
