2. Georgia

Surprisingly, Oklahoma and Georgia have only met once in their long histories as blue blood college football programs.

In fact, this lone matchup was very recent, in the 2018 Rose Bowl, where the Bulldogs took a 54-48 overtime victory in one of the greatest games in the relatively short history of the College Football Playoff.

Th2 2018 OU-Georgia game saw outstanding performances from players on both sides, but Oklahoma football fans must get flashbacks to that Sony Michel and Nick Chubb backfield. Michel ran the ball 11 times for 181 yards along with three touchdowns while Chubb made14 carries for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Oklahoma had their stars stand out as well, Rodney Anderson ran 26 times for 201 yards and two touchdowns in a workhorse game. Many Sooner fans remember the performance of Baker Mayfield, in which he did everything right save for a costly interception.

This game was indeed one for the legends, and future matchups between these two teams should bring out similar performances from both teams. These two programs have remained consistent and have continued to improve, especially defensively.

If the conference remains separated the way it is, these two teams would likely be in opposing divisions or pods and presumably would not see each other every year. A potential meeting in the SEC Championship would be one for the ages, as both teams are similar in recent years.

Georgia and Oklahoma have both remained at the top of college football in the past decade and change, but neither have a national championship since 2000.

Had Georgia replaced Oklahoma in the BIG 12 they most likely would also have won six straight conference championships while Oklahoma would have been so close yet possibly so far in the SEC.

Now, both teams will be in the same conference on the same playing field, so only time will tell which program truly has the edge.
