2. Alabama 45, Oklahoma 34, Dec. 29, 2018, in Orange Bowl in Miami

This playoff game got away from Oklahoma before the Sooners could get anything going offensively. The Sooners had Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray at quarterback, but Alabama had Heisman runner-up Tua Tagovailoa at the controls.

Bama came out punching and hit the Sooners right in the mouth. The Crimson Tide rolled to a 28-0 advantage before the Sooners knew what had hit them. To OU’s credit, however, the Sooners didn’t give up. Oklahoma scored 34 of the next 17 points, outscoring Alabama 24-14 in the second half, but the Crimson and Cream came up just short, falling 45-34 in what turned out to be a much more competitive game over the final 30 minutes.

OU ended up with 471 yards of total offense (308 passing and 163 rushing) to Alabama’s 528 yards of offense (328 passing and 200 rushing).
