And this does not include the numerous NFL aspirants who played for the Sooners who were undrafted and went the free-agent route to pursue the professional football dreams.

OU’s 402 all-time NFL Draft picks ranks fourth among all college teams behind Notre Dame (520), USC (516) Ohio State (473). This includes the recently completed 2021 NFL Draft, in which five Sooners were selected. Among Oklahoma’s 402 draft selections, forty-seven were taken in the opening round and five were drafted No. 1 overall.

Despite this impressive NFL connection, only three former Oklahoma Sooner players are currently enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame: Tommy McDonald, Lee Roy Selmon and Troy Aikman.

If you are curious, Notre Dame and USC are tied for the most players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame with 13 each. Michigan is next with 11, followed by Ohio State with 10.
