Oklahoma basketball: What Sooners’ next seven games look like
By Chip Rouse
@West Virginia Mountaineers, Saturday, Feb. 13
The Mountaineers currently sit one spot ahead of Oklahoma, in second place, in the Big 12 standings, yet are ranked two spots behind the No. 12 Sooners in the most recent Associated Press Top 25.
Oklahoma led by 18 at the half in the earlier game between these two teams, but West Virginia came back in the second half and actually drew even at 60. The Sooners went on a 9-2 run from there and eventually put the game away on free throws to win 75-71.
West Virginia goes through scoring droughts, but averages 76 points a game and is a strong rebounding team. The Mountaineers are 8-2 at home this season. Oklahoma swept the Mountaineers a year ago, including a 10-point win in Morgantown. I think this game will be close, but with a week to get ready, and West Virginia having to play on the road at Texas Tech on Tuesday this week, I believe the Sooners can pull out a road win — Oklahoma gets by.
