Oklahoma football: Sooners up one spot, to No. 13, in AP, Coaches Poll

The Oklahoma football national ranking improved one spot this week in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls despite not playing.
The Sooners (6-2, 5-2) are 13th in both national polls, up from 14th, and they are likely to move up also in the College Football Playoff rankings when the new rankings come out Tuesday night. OU was 11th in the initial 2020 CFP rankings last week.
Oklahoma’s scheduled game with West Virginia on Saturday was postponed because of COVID-19 positive tests and contract tracing involving the Sooners.
Iowa State jumped three spots this week, moving into the No. 12 position in the AP and Coaches Polls, after getting a 23-20 win at Texas on Saturday. The Cyclones (7-2, 6-1) are one spot above Oklahoma in both polls, and are likely to jump OU when the new Playoff rankings are released.
Alabama and Notre Dame, both with decisive victories over the weekend, remained one and two in both polls. Ohio State, Clemson and Texas A&M rounded out the top five in the AP poll. The top five were similar in the Coaches Poll, except Clemson and Ohio State were flip-flopped at three and four, respectively, and Florida was ahead of Texas A&M in the fifth spot.
Oklahoma State, a 50-44 winner over Texas Tech on Saturday, is the only other ranked Big 12 team this week. The Cowboys, who are tied with the Sooners with identical 6-2 overall records and 5-2 in the conference, moved up two spots, to No. 19, in the AP Top 25 and four spots, to 18, in the Coaches Poll.
Texas dropped out of the rankings in both polls after its home loss to Iowa State.
Oklahoma is scheduled to host Baylor on Saturday in its final home game for 2020. The Sooners will close out the season the following weekend with a road trip to West Virginia.
