Lincoln Riley not in favor of delaying College Football Playoff

Lincoln Riley does not like the idea of potentially pushing back the College Football Playoff this season.
The Oklahoma head coach expressed his opinion on the subject during the Big 12 weekly coaches teleconference on Monday.
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby told Sirius XM Radio last week that the College Football Playoff operations committee has discussed the possibility of moving back the Playoff date because of COVID-19 interruptions.
The question took on timely significance following the recent outbreak of the coronavirus causing the postponement or cancellation of games over the last couple of weekends in several of the Power Five conferences.
"“It does not (sound logical) to me,” Riley said. “Just because if you’re going to start the season in the fall, then you start talking about teams that would be different with players if a senior leaves or guys not planning to be in school if it gets pushed back a whole lot longer than that.“We’ve got a schedule, I think everybody’s needs to do the best they can to play games.“Then somebody’s going to have to figure out who needs to try to play in the Playoffs and we go do it.”"
At the present time, the two CFP national semifinal games are scheduled to be played on Jan. 1 at the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. The national championship game is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 11 in Miami.
With two losses, Oklahoma has virtually no chance of making it back to the College Football Playoff this season after three consecutive appearances. The five-time defending Big 12 champions are still very much in contention, however, for what would be a 14th Big 12 crown.
