The Oklahoma football team scored a victory over archrival Texas last month, and over the weekend they another win versus the Longhorns.

Four-star wide-receiver prospect Billy Bowman earlier last month backed away from a longtime commitment to Texas, and over the weekend turned his allegiance instead to Oklahoma.

Bowman joins a 2021 Sooner class that is loaded with offensive talent. The Sooners also have commitments from highly rated receiver prospects Mario Williams, Cody Jackson and Jalil Farooq along with the country’s top dual-threat quarterback in the 2021 class, Caleb Williams.

Williams reportedly had a big voice in getting Bowman to flip to the Sooners. Since Williams publicly announced his commitment to OU on July 4th, he has been active trying to surround himself with other top offensive weapons from around the country, and Bowman was one of his top targets.

Williams probably wasn’t the only top influencer in Bowman’s decision to redirect his commitment to the Sooners. Bowman’s girl friend, Jayda Coleman, is a 2021 commit to play softball at Oklahoma.

Bowman, who is listed as an athlete, could end up at either wide receiver or as a defensive back at OU. If the Sooners were to switch him to defense, he would be the highest rated defensive player in the class. Rivals lists Bowman as the No. 1 wide receiver nationally and Mario Williams as No. 2 at that position.

Rivals currently has the Sooners ranked 15th in the 2021 class rankings, but that is likely to grow in the final 30 days before the early signing period in December. Oklahoma is believed to be in a leading position for several five-star prospects, including the top-rated running back in the class, Camar Wheaton and the No. 1 offensive guard, Bryce Foster, according to Rivals.
