One thing you can generally take to the bank in Oklahoma football games with TCU is the likelihood of a close encounter.

Oklahoma and TCU have played eight times as members of the Big 12. Six of those eight games have been decided by seven or fewer points, including the game last season in Norman, won by OU 28-24.

The Sooners have won six consecutive games against TCU. The last time they lost to Gary Patterson’s team, however, was in 2014 in a game at TCU. And that contest was decided by four points.

Here are some other numbers you should know heading into Saturday’s game between the 2-2 Sooners and the 1-2 Horned Frogs:

6 — TCU was picked to finish 6th in the Big 12 in the Big 12 Preseason Poll.

20-7 — Oklahoma’s record since the start of the 1999 season (Bob Stoops’ first season in Norman) when the Sooners are not ranked in the Associated Press Poll.

28.6 — Third-down conversion percentage by Oklahoma’s opponents this season, 11th best in the nation.

34:44 — Oklahoma’s average time of possession through four games, second best in the country.

41-8 — Oklahoma’s record away from home since the beginning of the 2012 season.

55.0 — Percentage of plays TCU has run the ball this season.

58-3 — Margin by which OU is outscoring its opponents in the first quarter this season.

79-9 — TCU’s record since 2005 when it wins the turnover battle.

138-19 — TCU’s record under head coach Gary Patterson when it leads at halftime.

500 — Oklahoma has gained over 500 yards of total offense in five of the last six games with TCU, and 461 in the other. Going back to 2015, Lincoln Riley’s first season on the OU coaching staff, the Sooners have gone over the 500-yard mark in offense in 70.8 percent of the games played. That ranks No. 1 in the nation over that time frame.

568 — Total yards by which the Sooners have outgained TCU in the last two games between the two teams.

12,000 — Anticipated attendance at Amon G. Carter Stadium for Saturday’s game.
