If you like watching Saturday a.m. Oklahoma football, you are going to have to adjust your schedule after this week.

Sooner fans will get a Halloween treat this year and another Saturday night primetime game when OU heads out to West Texas the end of this month to play Texas Tech on Oct. 31. The game will be televised nationally by FOX.

It will be Oklahoma’s third night game of the season (Missouri State and Iowa State was the others). The Sooners have also been scheduled for three early morning games, including three of their last four.

Playing at Texas Tech is scary enough under normal conditions, let alone having to go there on a trick-or-treat night.

The Sooners are 21-6 all-time against Texas Tech, but are just 8-4 in games played at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. OU has won its last eight games against the Red Raiders, including the last four in Lubbock. The last time the Sooners lost on the road at Texas Tech was in 2009, when the Red Raiders prevailed 41-13.

The road contest at Texas Tech will be the fourth consecutive game Oklahoma has played away from Norman, which takes in the entire month of October. The Sooners last played at home on Sept. 26 against Kansas State.

The Sooners have played on Halloween seven previous times since 1970. They came away the winner all seven times. Four of the games were at home and three on the road. The last time OU played on Halloween was in 2015. The Sooners defeated Kansas 62-7 on that occasion in Lincoln Riley’s first season on the Oklahoma coaching staff.

Oklahoma is 1-1 this year in games broadcast by FOX, losing at home to Kansas State and defeating archrival Texas in four overtimes. Both were 11 a.m. kickoffs.
