Several lengthy Oklahoma football streaks came to an end at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. on Saturday night.

The Sooners had not lost a game at Iowa State since 1960 and had not lost back-to-back games in the regular season since 1999. Moreover, Oklahoma had lost just one time in its last 25 true road games before Saturday.

With an 0-2 record to begin the Big 12 portion of their 2020 season schedule, the five-time defending Big 12 champions are in serious danger of falling out of the conference race just a third of the way through conference schedule. And the knockout punch could come as early as next Saturday, when the Sooners get together with their hated longtime rivals, the Texas Longhorns, in the annual border-war dogfight in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Before we look ahead, though, here is one more look in the rear view mirror at some of the notable numbers that came out of Iowa State’s 37-30 victory over the struggling Sooners.

2 — The Oklahoma defensive was credited with one takeaway in the game, a strip sack of ISU quarterback Brock Purdy by defensive end Isaiah Thomas that resulted in a fumble recovered by Thomas. That was OU’s second takeaway of the season.

5 — Receptions by OU sophomore tight end Austin Stogner for 74 yards to lead all Sooner receivers.

9 — Oklahoma was flagged for nine penalties for a total of 93 yards. Five were for pass interference or defensive holding.

40 — Total winning margin in Iowa State’s seven all-time wins over Oklahoma (1,2,4,6,7, 7 and 13 points).

40 — Oklahoma had won 40 consecutive games after a regular-season loss before Saturday.

48-3 — Margin by which Oklahoma has outscored its three opponents in the first quarter this season.

54 — Oklahoma sophomore kicker Gabe Brkic missed a 54-yard field goal right before the half at Iowa State. That was his first miss in 20 field goal and 60 extra point tries in his Sooner career. He was three for four in Field goal attempts on Saturday night, including a 51-yarder early  in the fourth quarter that tied the game at 23.

60 — Iowa State’s third-down conversion percentage on 6 of 10.

139 — Rushing yards on 28 carries by Iowa State’s Breece Hall, an average of nearly five yards per carry.

300Spencer Rattler was 25 of 36 passing for 300 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. It was his second 300-yard game passing

417 — Total offensive yards by Iowa State, three more than the yards gained by Oklahoma.

13,700 — There were approximately 13,700 fans in attendance at the game at Iowa State on Saturday night.
