Several former Oklahoma football players had big games in Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season.

Former Sooners who were in the spotlight for their NFL performances this past week included former Heisman-winning quarterbacks Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield, rookie wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, as well as his immediate predecessor as the Sooners’ No. 1 receiver, Marquise Brown, and Los Angeles Chargers rookie linebacker and first-round selection Kenneth Murray.

Murray completed 26 of 38 passes for 286 yards, a touchdown and one interception. He also ran for 67 yards and two rushing touchdowns to lead the Arizona Cardinals to a 30-15 win over the Washington Football Club and their second win of the young NFL season.

Mayfield bounced back from a poor outing in Week 1 to lead the Cleveland Browns to their first win of the season and a 35-30 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the Battle for Ohio. Mayfield completed 16 of 23 passes for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Mayfield’s former OU teammate Joe Mixon rushed for 46 yards in the game for the Bengals. He also caught four passes for 40 yards.

Lamb caught six passes from Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott for 106 yards. The first-round draft pick, the 17th player selected overall in last spring’s NFL Draft, caught five passes the week before in his NFL debut.

Brown, who is in his second NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens, led the Ravens on Sunday with five receptions for 42 yards.

Murray had a standout performance as the Los Angeles Chargers’ defense shutdown the Kansas City Chiefs and Super Bowl LIV MVP Patrick Mahomes for three quarters on Sunday before falling 23-20 in overtime to the Super Bowl champions. Murray led the Chargers with 10 tackles in the game.

Adrian Peterson, now with his fourth NFL team and in his 14th professional season, ran for 41 yards and averaged nearly 6.0 yards per carry for the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The 35-year-old three-time NFL rushing champion ran for 93 yards the week before.
