Oklahoma football: Scouting the back half of the 2020 schedule
By Chip Rouse
Dec. 5 — Baylor Bears @ home
The Sooners won two hard-fought games against Baylor last season, overcoming a 25-point deficit in a 34-31 win at Baylor, and then surviving overtime to post a 30-23 victory in the Big 12 Championship.
New Baylor head coach Dave Aranda is familiar with the Oklahoma offense, having faced the Sooners as the defensive coordinator for LSU last season.
The Baylor offense returns eight starters, including senior quarterback Charlie Brewer. The defense is another story, with just two starters back from the unit that ranked 39th in the country in 2019 in total defense.
Oklahoma is 27-3 all-time versus Baylor and 14-1 when the two teams play in Norman. Brewer gave the Sooners fits in the two games last season. He has a good arm and is able to make plays with his feet. Baylor still has enough offensive weapons to give the Sooners trouble, but the key to the game will be how effective the Bears’ defense is at slowing down the Oklahoma offense.
OU wins the regular-season finale by a margin of three scores over Baylor.
