Nov. 28 — @ West Virginia Mountaineers
The last time Oklahoma traveled to West Virginia was the regular-season finale in 2018, with the winner advancing to the Big 12 Championship game. The Sooners won 59-56 in a game with very little defense. The two teams combined for 1,372 yards of total offense.
The 2018 version of the Mountaineers, however, was a much more talented team than the 2020 West Virginia squad, but that doesn’t mean the Sooners won’t be in for a challenge when they return to Morgantown in late November this season.
The Sooners are 10-2 all-time against West Virginia, but have not lost to the Mountaineers in eight games as members of the Big 12.
Former Oklahoma backup quarterback Austin Kendall started the first nine games for West Virginia last season, but was replaced in the final three games by Bowling Green transfer Jarrett Doge. The Mountaineers won two of their final three games in 2019 with Doge at quarterback
The Sooners would be wise not too experience an emotional letdown after the Bedlam game and overlook a West Virginia team picked to finish eighth in the Big 12 this season in the annual Big 12 Preseason Media Poll.
Oklahoma puts this one away early and keeps its Big 12 record perfect (9-0) over West Virginia.
