Five Oklahoma football players have been named to the 2020 Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
In addition to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team for the coming season, the media representatives who cover the conference voted on three individual preseason honors, including naming Sooner redshirt freshman quarterback Spencer Rattler Preseason Newcomer of the Year.
Four Sooners were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 First-Team offense and one to the All-Big 12 defensive unit. Named to the offense from Oklahoma were WR Charleston Rambo, OL Creed Humphrey and Adrian Ealy and placekicker Gabe Brkic. Humphrey was a unanimous Preseason All-Big 12 selection and was a first-team selection last year as well. Ealy and Brkic were both second-team selections a year ago.
The lone Sooner selected for the All-Big 12 defensive team was defensive end Ronnie Perkins, who is expected to miss the first five games of the season with a carryover NCAA suspension that was imposed immediately ahead of Oklahoma’s College Football Playoff game with LSU last season.
Oklahoma and Texas tied for the most players selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team with five each. Oklahoma State was next with four selections and three teams (Kansas State, Iowa State and Texas Tech) had three each.
The five Oklahoma All-Big 12 selections is one fewer than the number of Sooners named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team a year ago.
Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard was named Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and Darius Stills, a defensive lineman for West Virginia was named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year in the conference.
