4. Wants to play QB in the NFL
In the last three years, Oklahoma has produced two No. 1 overall picks in the NFL Draft. Both were quarterbacks (Baker Mayfield in 2018 and Kyler Murray in 2019). Jalen Hurts, the Oklahoma starting quarterback last season, was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of this years NFL Draft. Former OU quarterback and Heisman winner Sam Bradford also was a No. 1 overall draft pick in 2010. He played nine seasons as a starting NFL QB with four different teams.
Mayfield is currently the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns, and Murray is the starter for the Arizona Cardinals.
“From my perspective, it feels like you go to Oklahoma and get into the lab for three or four years,” said Williams’ father, Carl, after the family’s March recruiting visit to OU and cited in the younger Williams’ “All on the Line” blog for Sports Illustrated.
"“You get glimpses of what they’re developing on Saturdays and they prepare you for the NFL. That’s what I really see there,” the elder Williams said."
