2. Perfect fit for OU’s offense

Dual-threat quarterbacks are what have made the Oklahoma offense so explosive in recent years, and especially since Lincoln Riley joined the staff and reintroduced the Air Raid offense that was so effective in Bob Stoops’ early years at OU. Williams is the No. 1 dual-threat QB in the 2021 class, so on paper, and from what the Sooner coaches have been able to see of Williams on tape, the fit couldn’t be more ideal.

Williams’ skills were on full display at the 2020 Elite 11 quarterback event, a three-day, invitation-only competition featuring the very best high school quarterbacks in the country. OU redshirt-freshman Spencer Rattler was the MVP of this event two years ago, and Williams was awarded the same honor this year.
