Oklahoma football: Five worst losses of the 2010-19 decade

No. 5 — Sept. 17, 2016 — #3 Ohio State 45, #14 Oklahoma 24
In this much-anticipated matchup of top-25 teams and perennial national football powers attended by a capacity crowd of 88,000 at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett threw four touchdown passes, all four to wide receiver Noah Brown, and Mike Weber gained 123 rushing yards as the Buckeyes registered a big 45-24 road victory over the Sooners.
Oklahoma fell behind 14-0 early and trailed 35-17 at halftime, a deficit the Sooners were never able to recover from.
Baker Mayfield, in his second season as the Oklahoma starting quarterback, completed 17 of 32 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw a couple of interceptions, one of which was returned 68 yards for an Ohio State touchdown.
In addition to his 152 passing yards, Barrett added 74 yards on the ground, and Curtis Samuel picked up 98 more rushing yards as Ohio State outgained the Sooners on the ground 291-177.
The Buckeyes held the ball for 11 more minutes than Oklahoma, contributing to their 21-point margin of victory.
The game was delayed by an hour and a half at the start by severe weather. The delayed start appeared to affect Oklahoma more than OSU as the Buckeyes struck early and often and were much more physical than the Sooners in coasting to victory. s
