The past decade has produced 109 Oklahoma football victories, the second most by a Sooner team in a decade, dating back to the last decade in the 19th century.

Those 109 wins include four 12-win seasons and three with 11 wins. But the Sooners also lost 25 games during the last decade, and several of those defeats were downright ugly, especially for a team that finished in the top 10 six times and in the nation’s top 20 eight times during the decade.

Bob Stoops coached Oklahoma the first seven seasons (2010-2016) of the decade. In those seven seasons, his teams compiled a record of 73-19. Lincoln Riley, who held the position of offensive coordinator for two seasons before being elevated to head coach upon Stoops’ retirement after 18 seasons, has produced three consecutive 12-2 seasons.

In the last five seasons (the final two under Stoops and the last three under Riley), Oklahoma has won five consecutive Big 12 championships (seven total in the decade) and appeared four times in the College Football Playoff. Unfortunately, the Sooners are still looking for their first CFP win.

We’ve identified what we believe to be the five worst Oklahoma losses during the past decade and ranked them one through five, with one being the worst. All but one belong to teams coached by Stoops, which shouldn’t be all that surprising, given that Stoops coached 50 more games during the decade than Riley.
