No. 5 — CB Derrick Strait (2000-2003)

Born in Austin, Texas, Derrick Strait chose to go north of the Red River and play his collegiate football at Oklahoma. He was a four-year starter at cornerback for Bob Stoops and the Sooners. He played on the 2000 national championship team his freshman season and was named the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year. He also was a Freshman All-America Team selection by the Sporting News.

His senior season at OU, Strait was awarded the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the best defensive player in college football and the Jim Thorpe Award, recognizing college football’s best defensive back. In 2003, he was one of seven Sooners to be named a First-Team All-American.

Strait was selected in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He played three seasons in the NFL with four different teams.
