Perrion Winfrey

Six-foot, 4-inch, 305-pound defensive lineman Perrion Winfrey has not yet played a down of football at Oklahoma, But as the No. 1 junior-college prospect in the nation at a position of great need for the Sooners, Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch can’t wait to get him on the field and acclimated to Oklahoma’s way of doing things.

Winfrey was an early enrollee and he was on campus and ready to get started in his new environment this spring. One day into the Sooners’ scheduled spring practice time, however, everything was shutdown and eventually cancelled. It would have been a perfect opportunity to familiarize Winfrey with his new coaches and teammates and begin introducing him to OU’s defensive scheme and integrating him with the rest of the Sooner defensive linemen.

Another great opportunity unfortunately lost. But mark my words, Sooner fans are going to be hearing about this guy if and when the 2020 season ever gets underway.
