2018 — Oklahoma 39, Texas 27

Texas was responsible for Oklahoma’s only regular-season loss last season, and Oklahoma had an opportunity to avenge that loss in a rematch in the Big 12 Championship game.

The two longtime rivals went back and forth in the first half, with the Sooners taking a 21-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Oklahoma led 27-21 late in the third quarter, when Texas QB Sam Ehlinger threw a five-yard touchdown pass. The extra-point attempt was partially blocked, though, preventing the Longhorns from taking the lead.

With the score tied at 27 apiece, Austin Seibert capped a 61-yard Oklahoma scoring drive that carried over into the fourth quarter with a 31-yard field goal, putting the Sooners up 30-27.

On the Sooners’ next possession, a fumble by CeeDee Lamb after a 56-yard catch and run was recovered by Texas at the Longhorn eight-yard line. Two plays later, OU cornerback Tre Brown sacked Ehlinger in the end zone for a safety to add on two more points and extend the Oklahoma lead to 32-27.

Oklahoma received the kickoff following the safety, and QB Kyler Murray led an 11-play, 65-yard scoring drive that ended in an 18-yard touchdown pass to TE Grant Calcaterra, his second TD catch of the game, completing the scoring and giving the Sooners sweet revenge and 1 39-27 victory.

With the Oklahoma win and the Georgia loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship game, the Sooners moved from No. 5 to No. 4 and a spot in the 2018 College Football Playoff. OU lost to Alabama, 45-34, in one of the CFP national semifinal games.
