Oklahoma football: Reactions from a dominant physical win
This was a complete game victory
The Sooners have struggled to put opponents away in recent weeks, but that was not an issue against the Cowboys.
In the second half, Oklahoma throttled every Oklahoma State attempt to build momentum, shortened the game and eventually bled out the clock in a powerful display on both sides of the ball.
After blowing leads against Iowa State and TCU earlier this year it was good for Sooner fans to see that killer instinct show up against a quality ranked opponent on the road. The team will need much more of the same next week against a Baylor team that looks like it might be peaking at the right time as well coming off a 61-6 win over Kansas.
The Sooners are very much alive in the CFP
Oklahoma got more good news in the race for the College Football Playoff with Alabama and Minnesota both going down. Not only should the Sooners leapfrog the Crimson Tide, Baylor will probably move up as well making an even more lucrative matchup for the Big 12 title. The Sooners still need chalk in the Big 10 and SEC title games to avoid the possibility of two teams getting in from one conference and could certainly use an Oregon win over Utah in the Pac 12 title game as well to eliminate their closest competition, but the playoffs seem like a real possiblity especially compared to the dismal shape the Sooners looked to be in just a couple of weeks ago with the committee.
