The defense has been downright dominant over the last 10 quarters

Since falling behind 28-3 against Baylor the Sooners have given up just three offensive touchdowns in the last 10 quarters of football. Against Oklahoma State the Cowboys started the game picking up big chunk plays in the run game and complimenting it with some timely passes, but as time went on the Sooners took control of the line of scrimmage and were simply more physical in pass coverage than the receivers they were up against.

You could almost feel guys like Parnell Motley – who finished with a fumble recovery and a late interception (he had another pick overturned on a controversial replay call) – getting the upper hand as the game continued. David Ugwoegbu played his best game hands down as the Sooners hybrid linebacker defensive end, setting the edge and forcing plays back to the inside where his teammates were waiting to pounce.

Of course, the defense got a boost from the offense, which set a deliberate pace on its second-half touchdown drives to keep the ball out of the hands of the Cowboys, but it also found ways to get off the field and come up with big stops to force field goals when Oklahoma State was able to drive.
