Either Trey Sermon or Kennedy Brooks will get over the century mark

The Sooners are a quarter of the way through the regular season but still haven’t gotten a 100-yard game from their top two running backs.

That sounds like it should be a major question mark for most teams, but considering Oklahoma is currently the No. 4 rushing offense in the country and both backs are averaging more than eight yards a carry it’s really come down to playing time and the emergence of Rhomondre Stevenson.

The JUCO transfer has worked his way to just outside the OU top two runnings back rotation with strong work in relief of Brooks and Sermon. Add to that the fact that OU RB 1A and 1B have combined for just 18 carries in the second half so far this year because of blowouts and you start to see the full picture.

Sermon got the closest last week, reaching 91 yards before he was pulled in the second half. I see this being the week it finally happens. Either Brooks or Sermon breaks off a long run to spike their rushing total over the century mark. It’s really just a matter of time.
