Oklahoma football made it look easy in a 48-14 victory over UCLA in Pasadena.

A lot of things went right for Oklahoma football in another dominant non-conference win over the Pac 12’s Bruins.

Here are a few immediate reactions from a beatdown of the Bruins.

Jalen Hurts is the Heisman favorite right now

It’s still way, way too early to start projecting who will win the Heisman Trophy, but if it were handed out today I don’t think it odds are well over 50 percent that it would stay in Norman for another year.

Despite Sooner fatigue among Heisman voters after Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield each won the award in back-to-back years, Hurts’ start to the season cuts through all of that. His stats are simply unreal so far.

He has completed 34-of-41 passes for 591 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. He has a 252.3 passer rating and is averaging 14.5 yards per attempt – both ahead of where Mayfield and Murray were at this point during their respective Heisman-winning seasons.

But wait, because there’s much more. He’s also got 372 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He rushed for 150 yards (including 99 on the opening drive) against UCLA.

That means he’s leading the country in passer rating and yards per attempt throwing the ball and currently the nation’s sixth-leading rusher. All of these stats have come despite sitting on the bench for much of the second halves in the Sooners’ trio of lopsided wins.

There’s nobody in the country even remotely approaching those kinds of numbers, especially with no interceptions on the season. He’s simply operating at a different speed than anyone who has defended him so far this year.
