Oklahoma football: Breaking down the 2019 season depth chart
By Trenton Corn
Linebacker:
Rush linebacker depth chart
- Jon-Michael Terry (R-Jr.)
- David Ugwoegbu (Fr.)
- Nik Bonitto (R-Fr)
- Mark Jackson (Sr.)
With Redmond moving from the Rush linebacker spot to defensive end, Jon-Michael Terry will fill in and apparently has caught the eyes of the defensive coaches. Ugwoegbu is a four-star recruit who is super talented and also had offers from teams like Alabama and Texas A&M, but obviously bought into coach Grinch’s “Speed D” system.
Mike linebacker depth chart
- Kenneth Murray (Jr.)
- Levi Draper (R-So.)
- Bryan Mead (R-Jr.)
Murray will be the leader of this defense, as last year against Army set a single game record for tackles, and led the team with 155 total. Draper has seemed to do enough to take over the backup role over Mead, but this position is all Kenneth Murray’s, as he looks to build off of his strong season last year.
Will linebacker depth chart
- DaShaun White (So.)
- Ryan Jones (R-So.)
- Brian Asamoah (R-Fr.)
White’s job is just as safe, or just as clear, as Murray’s, in my opinion. He the chance to be one of the best linebackers to come out of OU in recent years. The real battle is between Jones and Asamoah for the No. 2 spot.
