Which true freshman will have the biggest impact?

CR: Oklahoma has a number of blue-chip freshman on the 2019 roster. The Sooners recruited three five-star wide receivers and a four-star tight end to add to an already loaded wide-receiver corps.

While freshman wide receivers Jaden Hasselwood and Theo Wease were ranked by Rivals as two of the top three receivers in the 2019 national recruiting class, the player I believe will have the greatest impact this season is WR teammate Trejan Bridges.

Bridges and quarterback Jalen Hurts have developed a trusted connection during offseason practice sessions. The freshman WR caught three passes for 76 yards in the annual Red-White spring game, averaging 25 yards per catch.

It shouldn’t take long before Sooner fans realize why Bridges was highly sought after by big names like Alabama, Ohio State and Oregon.

CD: The Sooners signed one of the best receiver classes in history this past offseason with Theo Wease, Jadon Haselwood, Trejan Bridges and Austin Stogner and I expect all four of those guys to have an impact on this year’s team, but Haselwood just seems to me like the guy most ready to be a star right away.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder has a similar skill set to current Sooners star CeeDee Lamb (though not as strong or physical yet) with a little more speed on the top end. There will be some times where both Lamb and Haselwood are on the field together and defenses are going to have to pick their poison.

With his ability to go up and get the football, Lincoln Riley is going to deploy him in the red zone.

All that being said, I think Haselwood, Wease, Stogner and Bridges all have the talent to be Freshman All Americans by the end of the season. It will just come down to who is able to get on the field enough to make that kind of impact in a crowded Sooners receiving corps.
