Brock Purdy, Iowa State

Iowa State quarterbacks have been a thorn in the Sooners’ side the past two seasons and this year they will likely see the best Cyclone signal caller to come through Ames in a long time.

Brock Purdy is an NFL-caliber passer who took the Big 12 by storm after taking the staring job in early October.He toppled 300 yards passing in three games, including two of his final three contests.

The Cyclones could be a low-key Big 12 title contender this season and Purdy is a big reason for that. He has the arm to make all the throws in the Iowa State offense and a scary group of receivers even without Hakeem Butler, who the Sooners were extremely glad to see head to the NFL in the offseason.

Purdy can be flustered with constant pressure, so expect to see Alex Grinch dial up some interesting ways to create havoc in the Iowa State backfield and hopefully (for the Sooners sake) keep the Cyclones’ quarterback from getting into a rhythm.
