The overlooked

Behind the young guns and the big names returning, are a group of receivers who will quietly get some playing time and make some plays next year.

The first in this category is Nick Basquine. The redshirt senior from Norman was set for a big season two years ago before he sustained a season ending injury during camp.
In his two seasons, he has 27 receptions and 399 yards. Basquine has shown signs of being a consistent option as a slot receiver.

If he stays healthy this year, he should get good playing time and increased stats.
Next up is Mykel Jones, the redshirt junior from Louisiana.

Jones was riddled with injuries last season, but in his career he has played in 29 games. Totaling 31 receptions and 453 yards in those games.

Jones is another guy to look for in the slot, his explosiveness and catching ability will make him a reliable target for Jalen Hurts this year. Watch for a dramatic increase in his stats this year.

Lastly, Jaquayln Crawford the redshirt freshman from Rockdale, Texas. Crawford was a four-star recruit with a lot of hype out of high school. Crawford’s highlight reel was impressive to say the least.

While his high school highlights are very good, he is still unproven on Saturdays. But the ability he has showcased should transfer well.

Riley might look towards Crawford to help fill in the deep threat role that Hollywood Brown vacated. Time will tell if he can be that guy.

All of these players have the talent to make big time plays, but they aren’t going to make headlines right now. Just remember their names for when it is their time to shine.

In conclusion

The Oklahoma Sooners have a surplus of talent at the receiver position.

There are many guys who will be able to take the top off the defense while others are beating their defender on short, quick routes.

That combination will make the Sooner offense the most dangerous in the country and the best receiving corps this year.
