OU will never have to leave the state of Oklahoma in the NCAA postseason

The Sooners will host an NCAA regional for the ninth consecutive year. Oklahoma is 25-1 the last nine season when it has served as an NCAA Regional host site.

As the No. 1 overall seed, OU is assured of also hosting a Super Regional if it wins the Norman Regional, which the Sooners have done the last eight times they have hosted the opening weekend of the NCAA postseason.

If Oklahoma is fortunate enough to survive the first two weekends of the NCAA Softball Championship, it will be one of the eight teams to advance to the Women’s College World Series, which since 1990 has been played in Oklahoma City at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium complex.

The WCWS venue is a mere 20 miles from the OU campus, which gives the Sooners a definite home-field advantage.
