Big 12 football: Game of Thrones and Big 12 football
House Martel: Oklahoma State
Things get spicy in Dorne with passionate people who border on mentally unstable. Anyone who has ever attended a night game in Stillwater will tell you that things can look pretty similar.
No matter who they are playing, the Cowboys are willing to play second fiddle to no one. Unbent, unbowed and unbroken indeed. Also, couldn’t you see Mike Gundy wielding one of those spear-staffs The Viper used in his fight against The Mountain while his mullet flowed gloriously in the wind?
House Targaryan: Oklahoma
The Sooners have ruled the Big 12 kingdom for most of the last two decades with 12 of the last 19 conference titles. Oklahoma football has won more conference championships than every other active member of the Big 12 combined.
While the Targaryans subdued their rivals with dragons, the Sooners have captured the league’s top spot with a slew of successful quarterbacks. Oklahoma football has sent a quarterback to New York City as a Heisman finalist in eight of the last 19 seasons, including four winners (Jason White, Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray).
This doesn’t make them invincible, of course as many of the other houses in the kingdom have had their successes against the rulers, but more often than not you will find them sitting atop the Big 12’s Iron Throne.
